A Passion For Quality Teas

Anajáz Teas was started by James and Belinda Smith after a lifelong love for tea inspired them to search out high-quality tea for their own private stock. Here is their story.

We established Anajáz to be a resource for tea lovers looking for beautifully-packaged, unique gourmet teas and tea gifts. Like you, we are passionate about quality and the details. We weren't satisfied with supermarket boxed teas that sat on shelves for months. We searched for teas that weren't mass-produced and stored in corporate warehouses.

We finally found some sources for superior grades of tea that was grown in the cool highlands of the world's best tea-producing regions. We fell in love with the handcrafted wood, artisan-painted paper mache and hand-tooled brass containers. The small estates in the foothills of the Himalayas, on the slopes of the Blue Mountains and in the evergreen hills of Darjeeling produced naturally delicious tea high in antidioxants and bursting with flavor.

Naturally Fragrant and Unique in Flavor

As tea connoisseurs, we look to purchase only the finest grade of tea. The large majority of our tea is whole leaf and handpicked in small quantities. To achieve the quality we demand, our tea is harvested as the delicate buds and leaves from new growth. Many of our teas are organic, and we prefer our teas to be as natural, unprocessed and gently-handled as possible.

Anajáz Teas seeks out teas that are rare, fragrant and full of character. Our teas are cultivated in unique climates and regions that bring out their distinct assets. You'll discover there is a whole world of flavors and aromas in the different types of tea leaves and blends. For us, part of the joy of purchasing teas is to sample new varieties and develop new favorites. You'll also notice that our teas are not packaged in American or Western containers...each tea comes in unique and beautiful handcrafted packaging that is part of the adventure and intrigue.
